I need your car configurator skills, Oppo. My dad is thinking about selling his 2012 Volvo XC70 for something else. I have a good idea on what cars to recommend him (more suggestions are welcome), but I figured you lot would know how to specifically spec them for the best value.
A bit of criteria;
- Must be from a Canadian website. We get different packages from the US.
- The longer the warranty, the better. Free scheduled maintenance is a bonus.
- Budget between $45k and $75k CDN (which is about 12 cents US, right now). His automotive preference is, ‘luxury without hopeless handling.’
- Reliability is important. He drove 120,000kms in the last 2 years.
- Wagons > SUV/CUV > Sedans. Coupes aren’t possible, nor are convertibles. Gran Coupes accepted. He also prefers European cars.
- Must accommodate 2 large dogs.
- He’ll never use satnav, but parking sensors and a camera are a bonus.
What I’ve recommended (but haven’t spec’d);
- BMW F31 328xd or xi, pre-LCI will be discounted.
- Volvo XC90 T6
- Volvo V60 (Cross Country, maybe)
- Porsche Macan S
- Land Rover Discovery (I don’t know anything about this one. Not one of my recommendations, but he liked it in person.)
- BMW 428i/435i Gran Coupe
V12 Zagato for your time.

XC90 better than V60 (probably too small for 2 big dogs in the back). Honda Odyssey, Toyota Sienna. Restored 1984 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Mercedes E-class Wagon or BMW 5-series wagon if you guys get it.

V60 if it fits the dogs, XC90 otherwise...
T6 Premier. Classy as F*ck.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
T6 Momentum. Stately as F*ck.

Of your choices, it depends: is he enthusiast or just a regular guy who wants a nice car? If the former, Macan, if the latter, XC90.
